Go therefore, and
make disciples of all the nations"
Jesus ~ AD33
We will gather together to study the thread that runs through the entire
Bible describing God’s plan to reach all the nations and to increase our
participation in God’s plan to reach all the nations with the Gospel
message. We will do this through encountering and engaging Scripture,
being informed about the world in which we live, praying for the
Spirit’s work in us, and working together to fulfill Christ’s mandate to
his disciples.
This gathering is open to and welcomes Christians of all faith
traditions. We celebrate and rejoice in being Christians together to
fulfill the Biblical imperative common to all Christians to reach all
the nations (people groups) with the Gospel Message.
We will gather
together the third Tuesday of each month starting September 19, 2006, at
Finley Memorial Presbyterian Church.
We will remain faithful to the times of 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM to study,
discuss and pray.
There will be no cost to participate. We will draw on various
resources with the primary resource being the Bible, each participant’s
preferred translation, and information on unreached/least reached people
groups found at the
www.joshuaproject.org web site. The lesson material and questions
for the course come largely from “Perspectives on the World Christian
Movement – Study Guide” by Steven Hawthorne, published by the Institute
of International Studies, and
“God’s Heart for the Nations” by Jeff Lewis, published by the Caleb
Project. We will use “Heart for the Nations” extensively, though not
exclusively, for questions in the lessons. Participants may want to
order this small, but excellent book from the Caleb Project for about
$8.00.
The written plan for this journey will be provided on the web and in
paper form.
Readings and questions for each session
will be available on this web site. Other resource
recommendations will be made available. For participants who would
prefer, we will teach them to use the internet resources and/or download
and print information from the internet for them.
As with so many things in life, participants will get out of the journey
in proportion to what they put in. Some will come with little
preparation. Others will come having studied the lesson, having not
only used the suggested resources, but also found and studied additional
resources.
The course leaders will be Mike Robison, Associate Director of the
Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship, and the Rev. Dan Matthews, Pastor of
Finley Memorial Presbyterian Church. While Mike and Dan each bring
certain gifts, knowledge, and experience to the course, they realize and
celebrate that all participants will bring their own gifts, experiences,
and knowledge to the group. They see their roles as being catalysts and
facilitators, as well as “pilgrims on the journey.”

Nations: from Latin “panta ta ethne” = “all the ethnicities.” We will
typically use the term “all the people groups” as our working definition
of “all the nations.” |
